I Wanty Wanty Wanty part 2

I feel as office supplies go, the more crass or stylish the better it is for the entire universe. Well by universe i mean, office and by entire i mean, me. This ticks both boxes. Today i continued my lunchtime hunt for things i will buy when I go overseas, which is now longer than a Peter Jackson movie, i saw this brilliant all-in-one office thingee. Called The Butt Station, the Urban Outfitters site says "This really puts the "ass" in "businass!" and continues to say "The Butt Station is perfect for any desk, keeping you smiling and organized! Includes a tape dispenser with metal cutter, pen and business card holders and a toilet paper clip compartment with magnetic butt for easy retrieval. Imported. Wipe clean." Ewww.

Miss Australia's new duds or dud?

The new national costume piece for the new Miss Australia has been shown to a private audience of 50.

The SMH wrote "This year organisers opted to play it safe, calling on the sleek - and commercially savvy - designer Jayson Brunsdon - to create the costume for the 2008 Australian contestant, Laura Dundovic, to be worn at the finals in Vietnam on July 14."

Brunsdon has said the dress represents the great barrier reef colours and depth layers. A lot of people don't like it and even though i won't be whipping out the Bernina and making myself a copy for the Glebe markets i think it is a marked improvement on the street directory dress on Jen Hawkins and the Bondi Lifesaver costume of last year. Furthermore it is more fashion orientated and better fitting with modern Australia. More than can be said for other contestants national costumes, most of which are strange wearable versions of national icons and mardi gras inspired drag costumes with live national animals glue gunned to the shoulders.
Would we rather this?

What do you think of the gown?

Hansel - Quick Profile

hansel womenswear blends a sense of quirky playfulness with understated minimalism. Designer Jo Soh pulls together unexpected elements, creating highly-wearable pieces that suit confident women. The label reflects her modern and unique take on retro-inspired styles, featuring her signature love for juxtaposing strong and subtle shades.hansel, named after her beloved Jack Russell Terrier - a stray pup she rescued off the streets.

Since then, hansel has shown at RAFW and won many fans. The label - carried in boutiques in Australia, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. London-based online trends watchdog WGSN.com described Jo as a “total original” while Patty Huntington of The Sydney Morning Herald praised the label for being “ultra modern and fresh”. In the January 2007 issue of Wallpaper, the influential design magazine endorsed hansel as a hot brand to know on their annual "The Secret Elite" label directory.

Locally, the Australian leg of their world tour, The Veronicas, were spotted wearing hansel. Kiwi actress Emily Barclay, the star of Australian feature film “Suburban Mayhem”, arrived at the movie’s screening at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival decked out in hansel dress. MTV Australia’s newest addition, Ruby Rose also donned hansel in one of her photo shoots.

After graduating with honours in Fashion Design with Marketing from Central St. Martins, Jo honed her skills working with designers around the globe. She has sewed haute couture garments for Tristan Webber in London, and had assignments in Milan, New York and Singapore. In addition, she has freelanced as a stylist and an illustrator, and taught in fashion design colleges in Singapore.

Jo’s designs have captured the eye of industry critics who hail her as rising star with the following awards and

Is it just me or is it cold!?

Jason forgot that tight green hipsters are not the best winterwear
Crikey, we have been dragging out the extra padded cat fur lined parkas from the fashion cupboard this morning. The Elephant staff have been sitting around a small heater that gives out less heat than a 15w refrigerator bulb. May start singing 'The wheels on the bus" (with actions) to keep warm. The entire office very sniffy, tissue supplies are waining and everyone seems to be on that slippery slope to Sicktown - Funkytown's evil twin. But if you think about it, its only 8 weeks till spring. So it will be no time before your sipping Mimosas and planning your Xmas escape. Are you getting sick?

Brave enough to try this?

Don't care what people think? We dare you to try http://www.facestat.com/, this is Hot or Not from hell. FaceStat lets you up load images of yourself and then other people post comments and opinions on your picture. Random strangers judge your looks, intelligence, political leanings, if you are drunk or not as well as your ability to win fights with house pets. These opinions are then pasted on your face like one of those 'glue and newspaper' primary school social studies projects. Facestat explains "Within a couple hours, you will have detailed statistics about how people feel about the picture you provide. It's like market research for the individual."
I am quite certain I do not need that much information or 'research' on myself. If anyone has the moxie to take on Facestat, please let us know. We will provide a nice hot cup of bovril and a shoudler to cry on in the Elephant enclosure if need be.

Etat Libre d’Orange - Perfume is dead. Long live perfume!

Our sister company, Saunders&Co recently launched for Mecca the rebel french perfume brand Etat Libre d’Orange. The underlying philosophy of Etat Libre d’Orange and in fact their only rule is that imagination must have free reign. A land where perfumers are freed from censure and have found a subversive and playful territory of expression, Etat Libre d’Orange is a place where personal fantasy has the upper hand on marketing concepts.

With names (and scents) that will guarantee a double take, each perfume represents this left-of-centre ethos, with Delicious Closet Queen, Jasmine and Cigarettes, Hotel Slut, Incense and Bubblegum and Magnificent Excretions (to know what the scent is based on check out the label!)

The Etat range was launched in a saucy event at Mecca's Paddington Sydney Store and with all the slinky french maids, leather bears, berry cocktails and heady scents, most the guests slipped into the night wondering if the past two hours had all been a strange but delightfully wicked dream.

Available exclusively at Mecca Cosmetica from May 14th 2008 Stockist details 1800 007 844 and www.meccacosmetica.com.au

I wanty wanty wanty!

The ElephantPR office is hyperventilating after confirmation that the iPhone is FINALLY coming to Australia, through Optus, 3 and Vodafone. I have been obsessed since I snatched one out of the hand of a Neighbours actor at a function, stroking it slowly and muttering "me need this" and "my preciousssssh". For me, whose iPod has seen better days and my mobile phone spends more time searching for a network than ringing, the amalgamation of both units would be a techies dream come true. One thing though, if you are listening to music on an iPhone and it rings, are you totally deafened by the ring tone shrieking straight into your ear drum? JHH

Custom Made Shirting

Shirting labels Nicholas Green and Zambelli have been inspired by an absence of affordable bespoke shirt tailoring for men and women, that the Ambassador Group labels have created the Custom Made label for both sexes who wish to create a truly individualistic look for themselves and their business or formal attire.

The customer can select from 70 Italian 2 ply fabrics, 3 fit styles, 4 collars shapes and 4 cuff designs. The shirt will be then created locally in Australia and available within 21 days. The clients measurements are then kept on file and can be quickly referred to when re-ordering shirting, even over the phone.

Nicholas Green / Zambelli Custom Made fills a gap in the market for beautifully made shirting for men, and in particular woman whose shirting on the market has either been too corporate or too masculine. Zambelli’s new offering makes it as easy to create a distinct look and feel for each customers sense of style and body shape

Zambelli Custom Made is available for Men and Women in their three stores in Sydney.

Nicholas Green is available for men only at Myer's city Sydney and Melbourne stores.

Shirts start at $169.95 *minimum purchase of three shirts

Runaway circus elephant wanders into garden

This has nothing to do with Fassshion, but i thought it was quite funny. Apparently a circus elephant decided to pack in the three rings after a tornado, creating her own media circus after deciding to strut about a Kansas neighbourhood scaring the bejesus out of the small town residents in the American mid west state.
