Jason's Barbie Of The Week: Number 2

Celebrate Disco! Barbie

Heaven is missing an Angel - and that Angel this week is , Celebrate Disco! Barbie. Nikki is dressed head-to-toe in a mirrored white halterneck jumpsuit - a certain Bob Mackie creation. Accesorised with a feather boa, white blossom ...and a pose so fierce you can practically hear her growl!
Meow!!

As Seen In... Bless'ed Are The Meek!!

OK, so the U.S. is heading towards recession, depression... possibly so are we. So who has thousands and thousands to spend on a dress?

Not Mischa Barton! Thats for sure! Poor thing hasn't worked in ages!! Tsk Tsk.

Anyway, for a quick pick me up, how about this amazing Bless'ed Are The Meek dress, right on trend to the SS 09 runways of the USA. As seen in ADAM up the top and in Bless'ed Are The Meek down below.

Naomi Does Good In Nigeria... Sort Of...

Naomi Campbell, desperate to shed her troubled image, recently made a trip to Nigeria to launch the country's 'Green Initiative'.

The 38 year old London-born beauty travelled to the African republic's capitol city of Ajuba... got down on hands and knees... well... heels, and posed with a small spade... miming planting a tree for the paps.

As you do.

Also, i know i always garden in white. Don't you?

But honestly, enough about Africa. Look at her Chloe Myrte sunglasses.
Incredible!!!

Annette's Frock Of The Week - July 24th 2008

TREND ALERT!!

Ruffle me this! Ruffle me that!

One of the great trends on the European SS 08 09 runways was tiered ruffles as seen in Blessed Are The Meek’s collection for Spring Summer!

The ruffle trend when worn well will give you a romantic touch that is perfect for summer- The thrill of frills – layers and tiers!

The contestant in the final week of July on the Elephant Runway is Blessed Are The Meek's - Tatum Frilled Dress. This dress is my favourite as it has a romantic appeal. The Tatum dress is sleeveless with a lovely delicate ruffle from the left to the right. The colour palette is a cream with black.

Girly girls will fall head-over-heels for Blessed's Spring's romantic ruffle trend.

Hard and soft, sheer and solid, dark and light - just like real-life love affairs. The secret to the ruffle look is to keep it simple.

Don't be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve this summer!

Shimmer In Winter!

Boutique perfumer, Renée Griffith, lives by the philosophy that fragrance should be that “something about you” which others find alluring and captivating – absolutely unforgettable when you leave.

Renée has broadened her already impressive collection by introducing an ingenious, unique fragrance product, Satin Shimmer.

Perfect for winter, the spray nourishes the skin with a light quick-drying oil formula, which leaves a subtle white-base shimmer, giving skin an iridescence, one much more natural and versatile than stark golden bronzers.

Satin Shimmer is scented with top notes of Green Banana Leaves & Water Fern, middle or heart notes of Pink Honeysuckle, Frangipani, Plum Blossom & Hyacinth with a base of Ambrette Seed and Dry Woods.

Annette's Dress Of The Week...Cybele

The contestant in the final week of June on the Elephant Runway is Cybele – “The Celestial Dress” – A Heavenly Body.

This dress is considered to be “very much of the moment”. The colour pallet is vibrant, dark and moody entwining lilac and purple, like the midnight sky. The Celestial dress is floaty with a long ruched neck that will make you swirl away into your dreams. Cybele’s new Spring/Summer 08/09 collection for the season can take you to a fancy dinner, a bar or a classy jazz club. The focal point of this week’s frock is the colour as it is bold and beautiful.

When you're alone, and life is making you lonely You can always go....to a cuddle party!?

Forget Downtown, when you can go to a party and hug strangers for three and a half hours. Nothing naughty, just flannies and an ambrosia salad. The website describes a Cuddle Party as:

"A Cuddle Party is an event for adults to get together and explore affectionate touch and communication without it becoming sexualized. At these events, we create the safe space to talk about and explore what our needs are as adults when it comes to affection, intimacy and welcomed touch" ooooooookaaay...

Don't believe me look at the website.

I Wanty Wanty Wanty 3

I have stopped hyperventilating now, so I can type the keyboard whilst I sip down a gin and prune smoothie to calm my nerves. Introducing the Nooka Zub, a glow in the dark watch made exclusively for the conclusion of the Kanye West 'Glow in the Dark' tour. The will only be, *deep breath and gulp* 15 made and Kanye himself will find most these babies a home on a spoilt wrist somewhere. What plop I say, surrrre there will be 15 now but then their will be 30 more, then 300 then ooh we set up a website selling theses babies and before I know it the homeless guy outside my building will be wearing one. He already has a taste for Missoni, kid you not.
Sigh, I am off to top up my smoothie and find another way to read time when I am locked in a bank vault.

Green Tomato Cars

The way of the world these days, is that more people are starting to be environmentally aware - and making an effort to think green. Whether it be keeping the air-conditioning, lights & car use to a minium, people are becoming more alert to these larger problems around us and making an effort to do their part.

A great deal of us in this industry are especially guilty of over-using taxi's (even for the smallest distances! You know who you are!) and a fantastic company, Green Tomato Cars has come up with a solution - Enviro-Taxi's! Green Tomato Cars house a large fleet of Toyota Prius Hybrid cars which give off just 40% of the carbon emissions made by most LPG Taxi's or standard cars. They charge the smallest amount more than regular cabs and the best part... no waiting charges! You could be stuck at those lights for quite some time and only be charged for the distance travelled.

Green Tomato Cars were the Official Mode Of Transport for this years TV Week Logies.

Check out their website at www.greentomatocabs.com.au and make a booking!

Universal Tragedy

Somebody call Amnesty International to help put an end to these crimes against humanity which happened in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City yesterday. By crimes against humanity, I mean of course the National Costume segment of the Miss Universe Paegent for 2008.

Miss Argentina! A parasol! What were you thinking! And why are there more than one parasol's in the competition! (See behind left of Miss Australia - who is by the way, the far the less of all these evils.)

Ah, New Zealand, New Zealand. A gallant effort but unfortunately, there is no lady-like way to spread your legs in heels, stick your tongue out and perform the Hakka with a piece of shiny black plastic hanging from your crotch.

Oh, and lets not forget USA. Yes USA.

Remember when America's national costume was a giant snowflake teamed with a bra and knickers? Yes, i didn't either.

Miss Mexico's costume is flawless. Its a temple, with grass... come on!

Unnecessary & Expensive: Week 1

OK, lets get started. This week, we present a skyscraper in Dubai (because there aren't enough of these apparently.)

But wait.... it rotates. Yes. Rotates. Why? Because it can.

And it resembles a monstrous version of the Jenga tower, which must be very comforting for all those inside.

Oh, and apparently it creates $7 Million worth of energy by rotating each year.

Healthy or Not?

Right you see I am confused, last night bundled in my PJ's the SBS news told me that Australia was one of the healthiest countries on Earth and people live now some 40% longer than sometime other than now. Great! I was just about to jump off the couch and eat a hand full of icing sugar when I thought I would switch and see what those crazy kids on the ABC were up too. They said that Australia was 'Drunker, Fatter and more diseased' than ever before. They get the same press kit? Somebodies poor PR intern mucked up bad, 'Oh I was supposed to send, like, the UN-diseased press pack? oopsy'. So the ABC, who I always imagined as a wise old woman in a rocking chair who loves cream on everything and watching man o man repeats, said Aussies are huge binge drinkers, are bustling belt sizes nationally and...have more STD's than ever before. Cripes but I think that might having something to do with the binge drinking, beer goggles anyone?

Oh ma, I don't know who to believe. On one hand I want to go out and have that last piece of garlic bread that everyone denies they want, on the other hand I want to have my stomach stapled and walk around in a vacuum packed coverall from Glad. So to calm my nerves I consulted the daily oracle, not Perez Hilton, SMH.com.au. They said both, and I paraphrase:"Congrats Australia your healthier than a while back, but your still fat, have more chance of dieing of nasty things like cancer and heart disease. There is still a 17 year gap between indigenous people and non indigenous peoples lifespans. Don't even get us started on whats down ya pants!" OK so that's not really good news is it...
I know this is not about Fashion, so here is a picture of a strange handbag I found on google images. Is it just me or does that black powder puff have glowing pink eyes?! Creeeepy!

Milan Men's Fashion Week

Aaah Milan Men's Fashion Week, we love the mix from the silk PJ look from Dolce & Gabbana (above) to the sexy tones of Ferragamo (below). The puce three piece suit is for those Elton John days every guy tends to have here and there, not me though i don't really like marble busts and cursing at lampposts whilst coming out my botox clinic.

Great! Geek chic rocks my world and terrorizes my wallet
There is something strangely Star Trek and cool about these Prada coats, very intergalactic federation of planets "Take me to your brain in a jar" kind of way.

..but now i am not so sure these would be great we you have those
miss matching sock days..
Ok rant alert #12AD1: When did the mankini become acceptable to send down the catwalk, you can almost sense the front row shrinking into their Gucci crackberry holders. I can also imagine other things shrinking in this doodacky if you get my driftwood. Even living in Poofs Point i would still get beaten up if i slipped out the door in this with a pink calico Frattelli Fresh bag slung over my shoulder. Not pretty my peeps and the sandals remind me of my old high school Classical Studies teacher who had these sandals in baby poo tones, a triangle of frizzy hair and scary bulging eyes, but that might have something to do with his super tight jeans that he always wore. But i digress...Mankini, wrong, don't buy.

NOM*d seen on.........Madonna!

Above: From UK's Reveal Magazine

Holy Disco Leotard! Madonna was shot last week twice leaving her London home gym in NOM*d's Vintage bloomers. The pieces are from last Summer's collection but these items have been archived so may be back for another day after Madge's endorsement.

Jason's Barbie of the week

This week its Tippi Hedren from Hitchcock's classic, The Birds. Fresh for the 45th anniversary. Apparently the seller describes the doll as having "real fake birds" and a "high-quality head [that] looks scared and has awesome hair!" All for USD$44.99. Are you loving it?

Get Carried Away... In Big Style!

For those of you blinded by the 85 outfit changes of Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex & The City film - you may not have noticed the sharp styling of Carrie's leading man 'Mr. Big'.
The film's stylist extroadianaire, Patricia Field, decked out actor Chris Noth in an array of the worlds finest suits (...and Hefner-style silk dressing gowns). Although the outfits changed, Mr Big always wore his IWC Schaffhausen Portofino Automatic watch. This beautifully classic piece finishes any outfit... or none (see above) and is available from Hardy Brothers stores nation-wide.
If you're interested in grabbing yourselves a sample, or making a store visit... drop us a line.

Annette's Frock of the Week - Ruby Smallbone

This week’s contestant on the Elephant Runway is Ruby Smallbone’s – “The Strokes Strapless Twist Dress”. I refer to this frock as a “cocktail with a twist” as it is sexy but tasteful, a “look to kill”.

This is a statement dress as it really epitomises the phrase “less is more”. It has a sweetheart cut, simple colouring and I think very fashion forward. Wearable for the young at heart.

Ruby Smallbone’s new collection for the season has a ballerina appeal, appropriate for a slow dance or an enchanted evening at the opera. I believe this frock belongs in every girl’s spring/summer 08/09 wardrobe as it includes the right concoction of sweetness and seductiveness. Stay posted for more fashion goss from your frock expert
